DESCO Volunteers With Samson Energy for Galveston Bay Foundation’s Bike Around the Bay
10/18/14: DESCO's Gary Kowalski, Lisa Hord, and Errin Bryner, as well as Errin’s husband Rhett, volunteered with Samson Energy for Galveston Bay Foundation’s Bike Around the Bay. The course of the 180-mile bicycle ride is rich with stunning natural beauty and biodiversity. Bike Around the Bay seeks to raise awareness of the bay’s importance, and all profits from the event go directly to the Galveston Bay Foundation. The DESCO volunteers worked at Samson Energy’s breakpoint, which was stationed near the area where the cyclists boarded the Bolivar Peninsula ferry. Gary and Rhett were assigned to the refreshment station, ensuring the riders had ice, Gatorade and water refills before finishing the final 9.6-mile leg of the ride. Lisa and Errin helped out by holding bikes for the riders during their stop, and all of the volunteers supported participants by cheering as each rider arrived at the breakpoint. We had a lot of fun volunteering with Samson Energy for the Galveston Bay Foundation and hope to do it again next year.
