DESCO Volunteers with the Galveston Bay Foundation at the Inaugural Buffalo Bayou Shrimp Fest

10/4/14: The inaugural Buffalo Bayou Shrimp Fest was a hit with hungry Houstonians.  While sampling delectable shrimp dishes, visitors had the opportunity to learn about programs that are helping to protect and sustain this vital industry. DESCO Environmental Consultants staff members Chris Little and Ally Altemose volunteered their Saturday to help run the Galveston Bay Foundation’s booth, spreading the word about upcoming workshops, events and volunteer opportunities, especially the upcoming Bike Around the Bay, a two-day, 180-mile ride that benefits GBF. The booth was in a prime location right across from the shrimp line, and GBF’s driving tour maps proved to be a big hit, particularly with out-of-town visitors to the festival.
