DESCO Volunteer Supports Dolphin Exhibit at Saving Wildlife Expo at the Houston Zoo

4/23/2016: Jackie Gilliam worked with Kristi Fazioli at the Saving Wildlife Expo and talked to participants about Galveston Bay Foundation’s (GBF) and University of Houston Clear Lake-Environmental Institute of Houston’s (UHCL-EIH) partnership to conduct research on the bottlenose dolphin population in Upper Galveston Bay. Kristi and her team at UHC-EIH is conducting the research through photo-ID monitoring, mark-recapture techniques, and remote biopsy samples for the resident and visiting dolphins. GBF is raising awareness and education for the Galveston Bay Dolphin Research and Conservation Program. "Introducing this partnership to the Expo attendees and other exhibitors was a great way to spread the news about the dolphin population in Upper Galveston Bay as well as learn about other local conservation efforts.” Jackie Gilliam
